Rocky Ridge Elementary Receives $5,000 Donation
[Hoover, AL] – Burlington Stores through its partnership with the national non-profit organization, AdoptAClassroom.org, has donated $5,000 to Rocky Ridge Elementary School (RRES) in celebration of its new store now open at 5275 Highway 280 South, Suite 119 in Birmingham.
The donation from AdoptAClassroom.org will provide funds for new supplies for each teacher’s classroom. RRES Principal Dr. Dil Uswatte says the teachers will use the money on several new classroom items and says the donation shows Burlington and AdoptAClassroom.org believe in Hoover City Schools.
“It’s going to go a long way. Thank you for investing in our teachers but ultimately in our students,” said Dr. Uswatte. “What you may not know about Rocky Ridge is that it was the third school in Alabama to receive International STEM Accreditation. This money is going to help us buy more materials for our students so they can dream big. It’s going to help us buy books for our classroom libraries and help our teachers to do innovative projects.”
Superintendent of Hoover City Schools Dr. Dee O. Fowler said, “We believe partnerships in the community are of utmost importance, and we would like to welcome you and thank you for your generous contribution. I can assure you that Dr. Uswatte will use this most expeditiously and in the best manner for her children.”
Each time Burlington opens a new store, its management and employees celebrate by adopting and donating funds to a local elementary school in the community in partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org.
