Board of Education Work Session Recap and Superintendent Search Update
5 April 2021
HCS- The Hoover City Schools Board of Education held a work session on Monday, April 5th, 2021.
During the meeting, the board heard a financial update from the district’s chief financial officer. In addition to the financial update, the board also listened to a capital outlay update from the district’s coordinator of operations regarding ongoing and future projects.
The board also discussed the current search for a new superintendent.
Back in December, the board hired the Alabama Association of School Boards as a search firm to find candidates for the position. In total, 37 applicants applied, and that pool was narrowed down to five candidates. The board concluded interviewing the five candidates in mid-February.
After giving their input, the board has decided not to proceed with any of the five candidates.
This process allowed the board to hear from district leaders and stakeholders about what they would like to see in their next leader. The board does not want to rush this important decision and looks forward to finding the right candidate.
The board will continue to do their due diligence, and they remain committed to bringing the right leader to Hoover City Schools.
The board is scheduled to meet again on Monday, April 12th, 2021, at 5:30 p.m.
That meeting will be held at the Hoover Board of Education/Farr Administration Building, located at 2810 Metropolitan Way Hoover 35243.
Due to social distancing guidelines, seating for that meeting will be limited, and the meeting will be livestreamed on the district’s YouTube channel.
