May 2019

  1. Three Spain Park High School students earn perfect scores on the 2019 National Latin Exam (only 442 students out of 22,000 achieved this score).
  2. Hoover High School Boys Soccer Team - 7A AHSAA State Champions.
  3. Hoover HS/Spain Park HS Business and Entrepreneurial Academy students secured most of the top spots in the recent Junior Achievement of Alabama Business Plan Challenge.
  4. Hoover High School Fine Arts Academy held 1st-ever Fine Arts Signing Day on May 9/Thirty-four seniors collectively secure more than $700,000.00 in scholarships/monetary awards.
  5. Riverchase Elementary students ranked in the recent Alabama PALS anti-littering poster contest.
  6. HCS Foundation kicked off its annual Commit to 36 fundraising campaign for teacher grants.
  7. Hoover HS BioBucs Team wins 1st Place in National Lexus Eco Challenge (particle pollution study).
  8. HCS Child Nutrition Program celebrated School Lunch Hero Day on May 3.
  9. Hoover HS Air Force ROTC honored its 1st-year cadets at its inaugural Awards Day May 3.
  10. R.F. Bumpus Middle School raises $6,000.00 for Neverthirst to construct clean water wells in India.
  11. Hoover's own "President Austin" conducts school-wide assembly at R.F. Bumpus Middle School.
  12. Hoover High School holds annual Bayou Bash.


April 2019

  1. Spain Park HS student Olivia Williams wins Congressional Art Competition for Alabama's Sixth Congressional District.
  2. Spain Park HS student Naomi Gonzalez's art selected to hang in Alabama State Capitol.
  3. Rocky Ridge Elementary School earns International STEM certification, 1st in metro BHM.
  4. R.F. Bumpus Middle School student places 2nd in statewide Governor's APP Challenge.
  5. Hoover High School Scholars Bowl Team wins State Championship - again. 
  6. Berry Middle School LEGO Robotics Team secures Top 10 finishes at UA State Competition.
  7. Brock's Gap Intermediate School hosts its annual Fine Arts Night.
  8. UAB conducts "PhUn" (Physiology Understanding) workshop at South Shades Crest Elementary School.
  9. Riverchase Elementary School begins construction on outdoor sensory garden to memorialize teacher Susan Clark, who passed away in 2018.
  10. HCS Child Nutrition Department announces dates/expansion for Hoover Summer Feeding Program.
