HCS Art Helps Headline Hispanic Heritage Month

September 17, 2018

(RFBMS) - Our Exploratory Spanish instructor Mr. Marcus Harris, and his students are participating in The Birmingham Zoo’s Hispanic Heritage Month event. The Birmingham Zoo requested that middle school art and Spanish classes assist with livening up the fence in Henley Park and The Children’s Zoo with large representations of flags from Hispanic countries. On Wednesday, Mr. Harris will take the flags to the Birmingham Zoo, where they will be hung all weekend. On Saturday, there will be an event called La Celebración at the Birmingham Zoo. Mr. Harris plans to award students bonus points for attending and showing support for their classmates. More information on this event is posted below. Additionally pictures of the flag creation process are attached to this email.

Make sure you encourage Mr. Harris and his students for participating in this awesome event and for representing Bumpus at the La Celebración event at the Birmingham Zoo.

The Birmingham Zoo’s Hispanic Heritage Month event -- La Celebración will be held on Saturday, September 22 from 10 AM – 2 PM! At La Celebración Zoo guests are invited celebrate the animals and culture of Latin American countries through keeper chats, educational activities, food, music, dance and art.
