Exceptional Education Program
The Hoover Exceptional Education Preschool Program is now accepting applications for peer models. Peer models, who are typically developing children from the Hoover community, serve as role models in the preschool classroom for the students with special needs. The peer models participate in all classroom activities alongside the children with special needs providing excellent language models, social models, and behavior models. The preschool classrooms are led by highly-qualified exceptional education teachers who focus on preparing all children in the classroom for kindergarten through the use of Alabama's Standards for Early Learning and Development. For 4 year olds (based on the child’s age on September 1st), classes meet from 7:45-1:45 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The cost of this program is $150 per month paid by the 5th of each month. For 3 year olds (based on the child’s age on September 1st), classes meet from 7:45AM- 2:30PM on Tuesday and Thursday. The cost of this program is $100 per month paid by the 5th of each month. For the 2023-2024 school year, the Exceptional Education Preschool Program will be located at 2 different locations, Riverchase Elementary School and Trace Crossings Elementary School.
