TCES Update - Mrs. Amanda Stone

From the desk of Principal Mr. Quincy Collins
December 12, 2018

Amanda Stone/Quincy Collins (TCES) - We always work to communicate great news about our school - and this week proves to be no different.  Let me update you on some great news involving our assistant principal Mrs. Amanda Stone.

Starting in January 2019, Mrs. Stone will join our school system’s Student Services team. She will help oversee a number of duties from enrollment to residency verification. In this new endeavor, she will work alongside some great leaders (including one of her former principals, Mr. Bob Lawry!). The team will also draw upon Mrs. Stone’s renowned technology skills to enhance the way the team reaches various stakeholder groups through myriad communication platforms.  As many of you may know, long-time Student Services Coordinator Wayne Smith retires in April.

As Mrs. Stone told me, “Though I am joining another area of Hoover City Schools, I will still get to work with the Trace Crossings family. Every minute at Trace has been special! We have worked hard as a team to welcome all students, making their experiences the best they can be.”

Mrs. Stone - who is S.T.E.A.M. certified - helped launch our Maker Studio years ago. She trained teachers and built business partnerships to make our Studio one of the most advanced, most toured studios in our region. She has tirelessly facilitated the Samford University Pre-Service Teacher Program for years and has presented for the Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB) on technology innovation. Additionally, Mrs. Stone was recognized at the national level by the National School Boards Association (NSBA) as one of the “20 to Watch” Education Technology Leaders.

Mrs. Stone has taught 3rd grade (Hewitt Elementary); 5th grade (Concord Elementary); and served as an instructional technology coach (South Shades Crest Elementary). Now, as she prepares for new environs, we recognize and applaud all the contributions she has made to the Trace family.
