Greystone Elementary Celebrates 25 Years

On Sunday, October 6, 2019, Greystone Elementary had a wonderful celebration of 25 years!  We are so thankful for all who were able to attend. Thank you especially to those special guests, Dr. Murphy, Mayor Brocato, Jason Gaston, Matt Wilson, and Senator Dan Roberts who all attended the event and were very complimentary of our school.  Mr. and Mrs. Layne from the Greystone Ladies Club attended and even brought us a book signed by the author - "Alabama - My Home Sweet Home" by Charles Ghigna. Two staff members, Mrs. Jennifer (Broom) Whitten and Mr. Richard Allen were recognized for 25 years of service to GSES.  They are the only two original hires that remain at the school since the day it was opened in 1994.

The PTA worked extremely hard to make sure the event was special for everyone.  They decorated, arranged for the beautiful Hoover Belles, the Dazzlers, and cheerleaders.  They arranged for the food, balloon lady, face painting, and the sign gypsies. We are so grateful for such an awesome group of parents who genuinely care about our school! We would also like to thank kindergarten teacher, Wendy Goodwin, who made the delicious and beautiful cakes for this event.

Families who visited were able to participate in a scavenger hunt by using the hints in a provided booklet to travel around the school and visit each of our 5th grade Greystone Ambassadors at planned locations in the building.  This activity provided a great way for families to tour our school that afternoon and learn about some of our history from students, present teachers, and past teachers.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration a wonderful success!
