Only chromebooks that are deemed unusable will be accepted for repair. Examples are: will not turn on, screen is black, cannot connect to Wi-Fi, device will not charge. If learning cannot take place due to a critical issue with your student’s chromebook, please call Judy Gordon in our front office 205-439-3400 or email her at She will determine if the chromebook needs repair and will advise you of the steps needed to make this happen. If the repair is more involved and insurance was not purchased at the beginning of the school year, there may be a $25 repair fee assessed. You would be notified by phone or backpack mail that payment would be required before the device is returned to the student.
The Chromebook repair process will take longer than usual due to the precautions Hoover staff will take to stay safe. This includes a quarantine time period before we pass it off to the technician and an additional quarantine time period once it is received by the technician.
