Welcome new Assistant Principal: Mr. Carl Berryhill

(GWIN) - Hoover City Schools proudly welcomes Carl Berryhill to Gwin Elementary School as its new Assistant Principal. Berryhill has taught Social Studies since 2006, most recently teaching 6th grade at Simmons Middle School where he was also served as their Safety Coordinator.
Berryhill holds his Bachelor of Science in Education and his Master of Arts in Sports Management degrees from The University of Alabama. While working on his graduate degree, he served as a graduate assistant student manager for the University of Alabama football team. Recently, Berryhill received his Master of Arts in Education in 2015, majoring in Education Leadership, from The University of Alabama, Birmingham.
Berryhill began his teaching career in sixth-grade social studies at Hamilton Middle School in the Marion County (AL) School System. He continued in that role until he came across an opportunity at Brock’s Gap Intermediate in 2012. There, he served as the school's lead ELI (Engaged Learning Initiative) Facilitator and served as the Junior Varsity Offensive Line Coach for Hoover High School's football team under Coach Josh Niblett. In 2018, Berryhill moved due to rezoning to teach sixth-grade social studies at Simmons Middle School.
In addition to teaching, Berryhill also served as interim assistant principal at Brock’s Gap Intermediate School during the spring semester of the 2016-2017 school year.
Berryhill has been happily married to Stacia, a third grade teacher at Brock’s Gap Intermediate School for eleven years. They have been blessed with two beautiful daughters: Emma Kate, 10, and Addison, 7. Speaking about his new position, Berryhill says that he is “...very excited to be the Assistant Principal at Gwin Elementary, and he looks forward to the year to come.”
Carl Berryhill brings to Gwin a wealth of experience and knowledge garnered from his years of teaching and coaching, and we are proud to have him serve the community, staff, and students of Gwin Elementary.
