Welcome to the Gwin Elementary Library!

  • Our library features 12,000+ books, ebooks, audiobooks, and state-of-the-art technology. We serve as a resource for hundreds of students in grades K-5 along - as well as our Faculty/Staff.  Our library was recently updated and is no longer just a place to check out books. Students come here for class once every two weeks. Other times, they come to the library to work on projects, usually involving research and technology. Book clubs, the broadcast team, and the fourth grade exhibit design team all meet in the library throughout the week. The library now has a Makerspace for students to collaborate, create, and self-explore. Our hours are Monday-Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Our librarian is Jennifer Northrup. She has a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Auburn University and a master’s degree in Library Media from the University of West Alabama. She is currently working on an Education Specialist degree in Library Media from the University of West Alabama. Before coming to Gwin in 2017, she taught third grade for seven years at Forest Hills Elementary School and Oak Mountain Elementary School.  Be sure to follow Mrs. Northrup on Twitter to keep up with what’s going on in the library!
