He was the 1992 Hoover Teacher of the Year, and has been nominated by the state twice for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching. He was honored to be named the principal of Deer Valley when it opened in 2001. He currently serves as an adjunct professor at Samford University in Educational Leadership Department.
