- School Profile
Mission
-
Hoover High School exists to provide a learning environment for academic excellence where students think critically, take responsibility for their actions, are connected to the community, and are challenged to reach their individual potential for success in the future.
History
-
Hoover High School traces its roots to one of the original "Over-the-Mountain" schools - W.A. Berry High School. Together, Hoover HS and its predecessor have produced outstanding alumni who have helped shape the world.
Our school's dynamic campus serves a large, diverse student population of approximately 2,950 students. With personalized, differentiated learning, numerous academy programs, an International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, and a low student-teacher ratio, the school operates as - and has the feel of - a much smaller campus. Of note, Hoover HS exists as one of only 136 high schools in the nation offering the Advanced Placement (AP) Capstone Diploma, in addition to the Alabama High School Diploma.
