Sign up for SMES Spelling Ninjas via Google Classroom will close Wednesday, September 6th. The goal of this group is to provide 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade students with an opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and “try on” a spelling bee environment as we prepare for the SMES Schoolwide Spelling Bee.
Students will attend an informational meeting Friday, September 8th @ 7:25 in Mrs. McGowan's room.
Four preliminary rounds consisting of a written spelling test of 25 words will take place in Mrs. McGowan’s room on the following Fridays @ 7:25 AM: 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, & 10/6.
The first written test is: Friday, September 15th in Mrs. McGowan's room @ 7:25 AM in Mrs. McGowan’s room. Students are highly encouraged to use the Spelling City link for practice. All correctly spelled words will move students up the Ninja Belt ladder. Individuals earning a Red Belt (spelling at least 50 words correctly over the four-week period) will be invited to participate in the SMES School Spelling Bee on Friday, November 3rd @ 8:15 AM.
*Due to the number of students involved, no make-up tests will be given.
