Becky Edwards

  • Becky Edwards My name is Becky Edwards, and I am thrilled to be the assistant principal at Trace Crossings Elementary. It is my desire to be a positive influence with the students, families, and teachers at Trace as we work together to ensure the academic success of every student. This is my 14th year in education and my 9th year with Hoover City Schools.

I grew up in Opelika, Alabama, and I went to Auburn University where I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Right after college, my husband and I married and moved to Dallas, Texas for his career in advertising. We lived in Dallas for 7 years, and it became "home" to us in many ways. Our first two children were born in Texas, and we built our first home there, too. I taught 6th grade, 3rd grade, and Kindergarten in Dallas with a couple of amazing school districts. I even taught one year at a private school specifically for ADD/ADHD kids. After we moved back to Alabama, I was the reading interventionist at Deer Valley Elementary in Hoover, then I taught 3rd grade at Deer Valley for 5 years. In 2012, I was honored to be nominated for the Jacksonville Hall of Fame Teaching Award at DVES, and in 2016 I became the Literacy Coach at Gwin Elementary. I am excited to use my experience and training to serve the families, teachers, and students at Trace Crossings Elementary!

My husband and I have three children, and we love spending time together as a family, although in this stage of life, family time is usually at one of our children’s activities. Our oldest is beginning her first year of college this year, our son is in high school, and our youngest is in middle school. My own children are very diverse in their learning styles and educational needs, so I love the opportunity to work with children from diverse needs and backgrounds to help them grow in their academic abilities.

I look forward to another year of supporting the families, students, and staff of Trace Crossings!
