Safety Patrol
Fourth grade students may apply to be on Safety Patrol at the beginning of their second sememster. This position carries over to their 5th grade year at Riverchase. Students may sign up for morning or afternoon shifts. These students motion for carpool traffic to flow smoothly and will open car doors to assist students leaving their vehicles in the morning or getting into their vehicles in the afternoon. Wearing a school-provided reflective safety vest is not just a fashion statement, it's a requirement!

Broadcast
Fifth grade students volunteer at the end of their fourth grade school year to participate in the school's daily morning broadcast. Broadcast members sign up for a week's assignment which includes both behind the scenes and anchoring positions. The morning broadcast consists of a welcome message, the pledge of allegiance, weather reporting, current school events, the day's cafeteria menu and other interesting tidbits to jump start our school day.

Student Council
The student council is comprised of one representative from each class from 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. They are selected by their peers. The primary job of the student council is to run the school store. They also do two fundraisers (Boo Grams and Heart Grams). In addition they meet with administrators throughout the year to give feedback about things such as school climate, rules and address questions from the suggestion box. All representatives participate in all activities.

Student Ambassadors
After submitting an application at the end of their fourth grade year, perspective fifth grade students are selected by a committee of teachers based on their academic success and demonstration of leadership and good character.
Ambassadors will serve as hosts and hostesses at various school events as needed. These events may include, but are not limited to assisting Kindergarten and other new students with arrival and dismissal procedures, Morning Greeters, Innovation Night, Veteran’s Day Celebration, Career Fair, Character Celebration, Ability Fair, Kindergarten Registration, peer tutors and weekly office aides.
