26-Jan-2016 (GWIN) - Gwin Elementary School's 5th grade math teachers, Ashley Dark and Andrea Lynch, turned their classrooms into Italian Cafes for a day in order to deliver a cross-curricular math lesson.  Superintendent Dr. Kathy Murphy stopped by to observe this math-in-action.

Students were escorted to their authentically-decorated restaurant tables by their teachers (hostesses) for this math lesson.  Students enjoyed bread sticks donated by Olive Garden while they carefully selected their appetizers, entrees and desserts from the menu.

Students had to add their totals, include tips and use their mathematical minds while enjoying this fun setting, according to teachers.
