WVTM - Changes are coming to Hoover City Schools' rezoning plan.

The school district leaders met with the Department of Justice and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund Thursday to review its plan to rezone the district.

The school district unveiled its rezoning plan to the public earlier this month. Since then, parents have expressed concern the plan would divide students in communities like Trace Crossing. There's also concern for students who will have to go to different schools further away from home.

After sharing the community's feedback with the DOJ, Superintendent Kathy Murphy said the district will make some changes to the rezoning plan.

"I commend the community because they've made this a much better plan based on the potential revisions, than the plan we originally had," said Murphy. "We realized that there were areas about the plan that weren't brilliant."
