19-November-2015 (HCS) – Network administrator Brian Fancher has been named Hoover City Schools’ 2015-2016 Employee of the Year.

Fancher was honored as Employee of the Year at the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce’s November Luncheon, sponsored by American Family Care.  Fancher manages all aspects of Hoover City Schools’ computer network.  He’s a 2003 graduate of Hoover High School and holds a degree in computer science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

Recognized alongside Fancher were this year’s Employee of the Year honorees: Brandi Marcrum (Physical Education Aide, Deer Valley Elementary School); Margaret Pruitt (Custodian, Gwin Elementary School);  and Lisa Yancey (Student Services Office Manager).  Hoover City Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Kathy Murphy, who served as keynote speaker of the November Luncheon, recognized the Employees of the Year following her keynote address.

Each year, employees across the district have the opportunity to nominate someone they believe deserves the title “Hoover City Schools Employee of the Year.”  A selection committee pours over the nominations each October/November and makes an announcement ahead of the annual Chamber Luncheon.  This recognition program is separate from the Teacher of the Year program.  Winners/honorees must have been with the district a minimum of three years to be considered as a nominee for Employee of the Year.
