Deer Valley, Shades Mountain Teams Dominate at Final HCS Lego Robotics Competition back button

11-March-2014 (HCS) - Lego Robotics teams from Deer Valley Elementary School and Shades Mountain Elementary School came out on top in the third and final installment of the Hoover City Schools District Lego Robotics Competition.  

Deer Valley's team placed first, with Shades Mountain Elementary placing second.  Approximately 80 students from seven Hoover schools participated in Saturday's event hosted at Green Valley Elementary School, the theme of which was "African Safari." 

Simmons Middle School teacher Mr. Steve Fox led the judging team for middle school students. HCS Lego Club sponsors are: Julie Altmark, Mandy Fox, Beth Garrard, Sammi Funkhauser, Debbie McDonald, Christie Willis and Amanda Stone.

Though Saturday's competition marks the end of Lego Robotics competition for this school year, several HCS schools will be taking teams to the University of Alabama Computer Science Department April 5 for a state competition open to all students in K-12.
