Lakeshore Foundation "LiveFit!" Demo at Simmons back button

21-Feb-2014 (HCS) -  Teachers at Simmons Middle School took on members of the Lakeshore Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby team Friday as middle-schoolers cheered on both groups in the school gym.  The demonstration, branded as "LiveFit!" was part of a larger assembly designed to showcase Paralympic methodologies to middle-schoolers.

Staff from the Lakeshore Foundation demonstrated various adaptive technolgies designed to make sports a reality for disabled athletes.  Lakeshore Foundation serves as a U.S. Olympic and Paralympic training site and is located just north of Hoover.

Offered year-round, the LiveFit! program introduces local schools, community businesses and organizations to the world of adapted sport and recreation through assemblies and live demonstrations. LiveFit! presentations bring an awareness of the abilities of all people.  The presentation lasted roughly an hour and was used as a tie-in to the Sochi, Russia 2014 Olympic Games.  The 2014 Paralympic Games also take place in Sochi, March 7-16, 2014.
