25-June-2013 (MOBILE) – At its 2013 Convention, CLAS (Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools) recognized two Hoover City Schools administrators for their commitment to CLAS and education.

Bluff Park Elementary School principal, Dr. David Fancher, and Hoover City Schools Director of Human Resources, Mrs. Mary Veal, were both recognized by their respective CLAS affiliate groups.

Fancher is an active member of the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators (AAESA).  He also serves as the Federal Relations Coordinator for the National Association of Elementary School Principals.  This post requires meetings with the Alabama Congressional Delegation in Washington, D.C. For 35 years, Fancher has worked in Alabama schools, 28 of those as an administrator. Fancher is also a Past-President of AAESA.

Veal currently serves as President-Elect of the Alabama Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA). In this role, she’s helped the association revise its strategic plan, hire an executive director and plan for the annual conference. Veal is actively involved in the legislative process by advocating and lobbying for education, children and advancement in education achievements across Alabama.
