02-20-2013 (BMS) - Berry Middle School math teacher Jeff Roberts was remembered in a school-based ceremony held February 20th in the Berry library on the anniversary of his passing.

Close friends, faculty and family gathered to remember Roberts, who passed away of heart failure February 20, 2012.  Dr. Kathleen Wheaton, principal, spoke of Roberts' incredible abilities as an educator and remembered "the incredible respect shown by students" at Roberts' service last February.

"This tribute to Jeff Roberts made me again remember what a remarkable man he was," Berry principal, Dr. Kathleen Wheaton, said. "The memories of Jeff that were shared by various friends were heartwarming, humorous, and beautiful. We were all so lucky to have known this man."

Grant Potts, friend and lead organizer of the remembrance, recalled Roberts as someone "full of stories" and "unlimited interests".

“Jeff Roberts lived his life according to a set of principles he never had to explain—he simply demonstrated them by his daily actions. It is rare to see someone in this world who truly embodies such dedication to their personal values," Potts said.

Roberts' mother, Imogene Roberts, was on hand for the service as was the Roberts' family minister, Glen VanZandt of the Palisades Church of Christ.  VanZandt's remarks were preceded by a musical tribute in Roberts' memory conducted by BMS teachers Chris Peterson and David Coker.
