Alabama's new superintendent of education is scheduled to come to Hoover Tuesday to share time with the community and discuss the future of education in the state. Tommy Bice is expected to talk with parents, students, teachers and others interested in education at 6 p.m. at the Hoover school district's Farr Administration Building at 2810 Metropolitan Way.

State Rep. Paul DeMarco, R-Homewood, who invited Bice to visit Hoover, said he expects the state superintendent to address several issues, including Alabama's education budget.

"He wants to talk about his recommendations and goals and to hear the priorities of those in this school district," DeMarco said. "I want him to come to Hoover for several reasons, including the district's size and many accomplishments. I believe it will be helpful for him to hear what's working in Hoover."
