01-Aug-2016 (SPHS) - Spain Park High School Engineering Academy Director Mrs. Scottie Wilson has been awarded the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) Educational Activities Pre-University Educator Award for 2016.

The IEEE is the largest technical society in the world.  They noted Mrs. Wilson for her “...development and delivery of a pre-university, prepatory engineering curriculum and integration of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities.  This award was established by the IEEE EAB to recognize current individuals for work in a pre-university school who have inspired an appreciation and understanding of Mathematics, Science and Technology and the engineering process in pre-university students, and who have encouraged them to pursue technical careers.

Mrs. Wilson was recognized in July by the Hoover Board of Education and UAB Engineering Professor Dr. Dave Conner, who also serves on the Hoover City Schools Foundation Board.

The 2016 IEEE EAB Award Presentation Ceremony will take place during the IEEE Meeting Series in New Brunswick, NJ, USA tentatively scheduled for Friday or Saturday, 18 or 19 November 2016.
