HOOVER, AL (WBRC) -Hoover City School officials are wrapping up and finalizing the system's rezoning plan.

The fourth of five community meetings was held on Monday night at Gwin Elementary school. The final meeting will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Spain Park High School theater.

School Superintendent Kathy Murphy plans to meet with a smaller group of parents that consists of representatives from each school on Wednesday morning.

On Thursday she will meet with the Legal Defense Fund (LDF) and the Justice Department (DOJ), both of which must sign off on the plan because Hoover is currently under a federal desegregation order.

Murphy has said from the beginning that she is willing to make changes to the plan. As for how many, that is still up in the air.

"It's difficult to say by percentage by how much this plan might change. But there have been some really great ideas that have been brought to us. In addition to the ideas that have been brought to us, we obviously saw many of these suggestions coming because we too saw some things that could be better in this plan," said Murphy.
