HCS: A "Best Places to Teach" District

2015 (HCS) - Hoover City Schools was ranked #2 in the latest Best Places to Teach ranking from Niche.  This ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of the quality, support, and compensation a district provides to its teachers.  It uses data sourced from various government and public data sets, Niche’s own proprietary data, and 4,624,238 opinion-based survey responses across a variety of topics from 287,606 current students, recent alumni, and parents.


A high ranking in places to teach generally indicates that:

Teachers work in a safe, well-resourced schools and are compensated appropriately for their work; the district is invested in its teachers and provides a good environment for teaching and learning; teachers are invested in the district and the students and work to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Districts Assessed by This Ranking

At the time of calculation, our database contained records for 13,402 school districts. For the purposes of this ranking, a school district is considered to be a district that has at least 100 students enrolled. School districts were not included in the ranking process if they did not meet these minimum requirements. The final ranking results in 12,412 school districts receiving a grade, with 8,841 of those also receiving a numerical ranking.

Factors Considered

Factors considered included­­ teachers’ overall experience; resources and facilities; health and safety; a district’s administration and policies; student-teacher ratio and more.

Statistics obtained from the U.S. Department of Education represent the most recent data available, as self-reported by the schools.  See more on the methodology here.
