03-30-2015 (HCS) - On March 23/24 the three Hoover middle school girls golf teams competed in their 4th Annual Birdie Bash Tournament at Robert Trent Jones – Oxmoor Valley. The girls competed in a traditional match-play format on the first day with the following results:

• Berry Middle School 1st Place;
• R.F. Bumpus Middle School 2nd Place;
• Simmons Middle School 3rd Place.

Caroline McCabe of Berry shot the low round of 35 on the par 3 course. Tuesday was a mixed team scramble format where the girls played together on teams with girls from the other schools. The winning team on the second day was comprised of Jaxi Arterburn (Berry), Emily Baker (Bumpus) and Meg Wilkinson (Berry). These girls teamed up to shoot a score of one over par.

“Girls Golf is strong across Hoover City Schools,” Lincoln Clark, Berry Middle School Girl’s Golf Head Coach, said. “We have tremendous athletes and great school, community and parental support.”
