UA College of Education Recognizes Hoover High School Teacher

24-March-2014 (HHS) – Hoover High School teacher and International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator Mr. Brad Coltrane has received the Honorable Mention Award for Excellence in Teaching English Language Arts from the University of Alabama College of Education’s Office of Research on Teaching in the Disciplines.

Mr. Coltrane was informed of his award March 23.  He will be recognized by his principal and district officials at a school-level ceremony later this spring.

According to his recognition letter, the mission of the Office of Research on Teaching in the Disciplines “is to foster, coordinate, conduct, and disseminate research based practice on teaching in the disciplines at the pre-kindergarten through higher education levels for local, state, regional, and national sectors.”  

As a part of its mission of dissemination, the awards program was established. The Office’s goal with this award is to recognize exemplary teachers for their outstanding efforts to make learning engaging, interactive, and memorable for students. It also is the Office’s intent to acknowledge the impacts teachers have on students’ lives, their discipline, and the teaching profession.
