21-Oct-2013 (SSC) – Mrs. Sherita Williams has been named as the new assistant principal at South Shades Crest Elementary School.

“I am so excited to serve in this position at South Shades Crest. I have been a part of this school community since moving to the area a few years ago; first as a parent, then as a tutor, then as intervention teacher and now as an administrator. I truly believe that this is a great fit,” Williams said.

Williams fills the role of Mr. Terry Lamar, who left to take an administrative position at Berry Middle School. She moved to Hoover several years ago to serve as both a math tutor and intervention teacher, positions which quickly acquainted her with this school community.

“I know the faculty and staff and many of the students here at SSC,” Williams said. “Having had the opportunity to serve in previous capacities at SSC, I am thrilled to now work with principal Dr. Kara Scholl and the rest of our SSC family to make SSC the absolute best it could possibly be.”

Williams’ myriad of new duties as assistant principal range from managing the school’s Extended Day program to helping each student make wise choices about his/her education.

“There is such a love for learning at SSC. Every person in the building has an interest in learning more. The way our teachers encourage and support the learning process is phenomenal. Every single person, from youngest to oldest is thirsty for more and more knowledge. We are truly a community of learners,” Williams said.

Williams is a native of Demopolis and holds degrees from both Jackson State University and the University of Alabama. Prior to Hoover, she worked for various school systems in south Alabama. She and her husband Wyatt have two children, Marcus and Malena – both students in Hoover City Schools.
