18-Oct-13 (GWIN) – The Alabama Association for Gifted Children (AAGC) has named Gwin Elementary School’s Mrs. Traci Ingleright as the 2013-14 Outstanding Gifted Specialist for Alabama.

Ingleright is an enrichment specialist for Hoover City Schools and splits her duties between Brock’s Gap Intermediate School and Gwin Elementary School.  Her recognition came at the association’s annual conference in October.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the Alabama Association for Gifted Children.  I have the privilege of working with outstanding students each school day.  To be chosen for this honor is very humbling,” Ingleright said.

Ingleright joined Hoover City Schools after teaching in Decatur City Schools.  She holds degrees from both Auburn University and the University of Alabama.   Ingleright serves/has served on a variety of councils, committees and task force efforts across the state including the Alabama Environmental Literacy Plan Task Force, the Environmental Education Association of Alabama, the Governor's Task Force for Environmental Literacy in Alabama, the Alabama Wildlife Federation and the National Wild Turkey Federation.  In 2013, she helped Gwin Elementary secure the Project Learning Tree Green School Award, the National Wildlife Federation Green Flag Award and the U.S. Department of Education’s Green Ribbon Award – the first school in the nation to receive all of these awards simultaneously.

“We know that Mrs. Ingleright is an outstanding educator.  We are thrilled that others recognize that,” HCS Director of Instructional Support Services, Dr. Barbara Mayer, said.  “ I am so excited that she chose Hoover as her school district.”
