BMS Robotics Team brings home trophies from UA competition

04-08-2013 (BMS) - Berry robotics teams showcased top-notch engineering skills this past weekend, taking home 1st and 3rd places in separate divisions at a statewide competition held at the University of Alabama.

The Programming Contest held by the University's College of Engineering featured teams from around the state.  One of the Berry teams competed in the high-school division for Spain Park High School.  The second team of five 6th graders competed in the middle school division for Berry Middle School.  Students had to solve programming challenges they received only minutes before the competition started. They were also judged on how quickly they could solve challenges.

Both teams achieved perfect programming scores and placed in their divisions winning 1st Place in the high school division and 3rd place in the middle school division.

Austin W. – 7th Grade, BMS
Andrew W. – 7th Grade, BMS
Hamilton C. – 7th Grade, BMS
Ashlyn K. – 8th Grade, BMS
Joseph M. – 9th Grade, SPHS

Berry Team – 3rd Place Middle School Division
Anastasia Z. - 6th Grade, BMS
Zacharay E. - 6th Grade, BMS
Shehzan M. - 6th Grade BMS

As the grade listings above indicate, the team which took first place in the high school division is comprised of all MIDDLE SCHOOL students, with the exception of one 9th grader.
