11-30-2012 (SMS) - Students at Simmons Middle School have been generous in their support of St. Jude Research Hospital again. This year students raised $3692.60 bringing the total amount raised in eleven years to $32,394.32. During the month of September/October, sixth grade students at Simmons Middle School have been doing extra math problems by participating in the St. Jude math-a-thon.

St Jude’s Research Hospital is a world leader in the fight against diseases such as cancer, AIDS, and sickle cell anemia. The amount of money raised by the sixth graders would cover the cost for two days or chemotherapy, one day or oxygen or two complete blood count tests. Top fundraisers were Ramsey Morris, Skylar Street, Andrea Montiel, Connor Spence, Ollie Baucom and Aubrey Colabrese. Sixth grade teachers who sponsor this yearly fundraiser are Kerri Davis, Cherie Hickey, and Phyllis Scott.
