End-of-1st-9-Weeks Celebration at Simmons Middle School

10-16-2012 (SMS) - Simmons Middle School students celebrated the end of the nine weeks with a sock hop on Friday October 12th. Students were invited to attend based on a good attendance record and good behavior. This celebration is a part of the Positive Behavior Support program which encourages students to attend school regularly, to be successful in their academics, and to make good choices behaviorally. Students are rewarded with SMS bucs that they can spend for a variety of things during the school year. The student council is running a BUC mobile that has items for students to purchase with their SMS bucs. Students can pick up pens, pencils, or other school supplies. Students also use the bucs to sit where they choose in the cafeteria or even outside some days weather permitting. At the end of each nine weeks students are invited to a special end of the nine weeks celebration to recognize their hard work. The program consistently reminds students to be respectful, responsible, and resourceful. Students are looking forward to the next celebration.
